Patients are like everyone else. They’re funny. They’re real. They have interesting stories to tell. They have sad stories to tell. You develop relationships with them, often, like they’re your friends, or they become your family.
I think there’s no better compliment — that as a physician you can have — when patients refer other patients to you, whether it’s their family members or their coworkers or whoever. And I’m lucky enough to have had that happen several times.
