View Transcript I do general urology, but the area of special interest for me is known as men’s health — which includes male sexual dysfunction, low-testosterone-related issues, infertility, and prostate-related diseases — so benign enlargement might cause urinary problems, and, of course, prostate cancer.
Many men don’t address their health. They delay it until the wheels start falling off. And as a result they miss an opportunity — possibly — to identify diseases early and to be able to treat them and then move on with a happy, healthy, longer, better quality life.
I think the thing that still thrills me about medicine is the privilege of working with people. You establish, very quickly, a trust and an intimacy that nobody else really gets an opportunity to do in such a short period of time. And having that trust and intimacy is so important to the relationship and, of course, ultimately can be rewarding for me. And if I can establish that trust and get good outcomes for the patient, it’s clearly rewarding and beneficial to the patient.
