A hospitalist really focuses on the care of patients that are hospitalized in the inpatient care setting. So our goal really is to make sure that there’s communication, coordination and collaboration around the care of the patient.
Communication is really of the utmost importance when you’re delivering care to any patient — making sure that they understand what’s going on, they get a chance to ask questions, family members know what’s going on. And sometimes it takes more than a few minutes. Sometimes it may take a couple of hours, and it’s important to make time for patients.
It’s always gratifying to see that the care that you’ve delivered has actually helped patients in the end. That’s why we’re in this business.
