Lung cancer patients comprise the majority of our patients by far and away. Lung cancer is so common. And with the advent of specialized CT [computed tomography] scanning and higher resolution, we’re picking up tumors earlier and earlier. Our ability to do surgery with smaller incisions, and have people recover quicker, and just do better is increasing all the time.
A lot of the patients that we’re seeing in the office now are those patients where my message to them is a message of hope, it’s a message of cure, it’s a message of being able to take their cancer out. And they go on and live the rest of their lives without having to worry about it. So that’s one thing that helps me comfort patients and their families. And the other thing is taking them through the process and helping them to understand what’s happened and showing them pictures. I like showing them the CT scan, so that they can understand exactly what part of the body I’m operating on, what I’m going to be doing, and what the recovery process will be like.
