View Transcript A majority of my practice is brain tumor surgery. I also do epilepsy surgery, and I do surgery for trigeminal neuralgia and other functional disorders of the nervous system. I’ve gone through this thousands of times, and I’ve operated on well more than a thousand brain tumors. But for them it’s the first time they’ve ever experienced anything like that. And we’re very aware of that. And we understand that patients need to be guided through what can be a very difficult time.
What we can do today is dramatically different compared to what was possible 50 years ago. Technology, microsurgery, the GPS-tracking technology we use during surgery, the instruments we use — all of these things make neurosurgery much safer than it used to be, and much more effective.
