I spend a lot of my time talking to the patients about their medication and about compliance and trying to explain to them why we’re asking them to do what we’re asking them to do.
It’s always nice when they come and say, “You know doctor, you said such and such and it worked,” or “You know doctor, you told me I should cut down on my midnight snacks, and look at my sugars. They’ve been great.” So that’s the best part. You get to see them again. You get to do continuity of care. They come back to you for their problems. And you get to follow them over a period of time, and see how they’ve been doing — people whose blood pressure and sugars are out of control — and just follow their diet and follow the exercise recommendations — and are able to keep their disease in check.
