I know that when I’m visiting with a family and doing a health maintenance exam, I try to be very aware of the fact that some questions are going to be directed at the parent and some questions are going to be directed at the child. And I think it’s really important to make sure that the child feels that he or she is part of the conversation and the focus of the visit.
There is a really very special satisfaction in meeting back with families and children who I’ve cared for over time. And to watch them grow, watch them develop into young adults, kind of see where their life is heading, and feel that I’ve played a small role in that.
