My main job is to be an advocate for the patient. And so I try to see everything from the point of view of the patient, but I understand that the patient is a part of a family, the family’s part of communities, and that all those things impact the health of the child. And so I really try to see everything from all of those angles, and I see myself as almost a team player with all of those other people around that are taking care of that child and helping to make sure they’re going to have the best outcome they can have.
When I get a hug from a child, that’s amazing. That’s amazing that I get to do that as a part of my job. Or sometimes a child will bring in a picture for me that they drew at school and that’s great. Or when I just get a thank you from a patient for helping them with something. All those things. It’s extremely gratifying.
