It’s always been my philosophy to explain everything that I believe the patient should know to the patient, so that when we finish there are very few questions because I’ve given them the information that they want. I go over all of the X-rays and scans with them in detail, and explain them. And I will always answer any question. So despite this comprehensive information exchange, I will answer every question they have. If they have a hundred questions, we will answer a hundred questions. And the advantage, I think, is that they understand exactly, as best as possible, what is wrong with them and what their options are.
We communicate both the published outcomes to the patient, as well as I will inform them of what my specific outcomes are. And this helps empower them to make the decision. And for many of the things that we choose to do, the outcomes are excellent. And that helps calm fears, and allows them to enter the surgery with a very positive attitude.
