Francis Peabody many, many years ago said, “The secret of caring for the patient is to care for the patient,” i.e. care about the patient, be interested in the patient. If the patient isn’t doing well, you’re not doing well. If the patient is doing well, you’re doing better.
I’m very comfortable taking care of a variety of different kinds of cancer. And I’m comfortable with patients — just participating in the back and forth that involves making patients feel better and facilitating their care.
