I’m in the body imaging section of diagnostic radiology. So I read CAT [computed axial tomography] scans, MRIs [magnetic resonance imaging scans], and ultrasounds on patients. And I think, even though patients don’t see the radiologist usually, we do have a lot to do with their clinical care. We look at their images and try to figure out what’s going on and help their doctors determine the best way to take care of the patients.
Even though I don’t often see the patients face-to-face, I always remember that there is a patient behind the images, and I always think about the patient like, maybe this could be my mom or my dad. And I try to really base what I’m saying on the idea that there’s a patient there and what I’m saying is important and it can have a great influence over what happens to them.
