The role of our group and myself is to read the mammograms, perform the breast ultrasounds — and by the way that is a unique feature here at Rush. We do our own breast ultrasounds. It gives us a chance to see the patient, talk to the patient at that time, put the patient at ease while the examination is being performed, and being able to give the results right there.
I can help them by looking at their images, being able to find a cancer at an early stage, and that will definitely make a difference. If they are given the diagnosis of cancer, they know that they’re going to be taken care of.
