Physician, Reveal ThyselfRush has begun including patient survey results in individual physicians' online profiles. It's among few U.S. medical centers, and the only one in the Midwest, to make this information available to potential patients.
Offering Warmth on a Cold January DayRush kicks off its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, when students from the University's colleges participate in service events on their rare day off.
I focus a lot of my time on imaging, specifically in ultrasound imaging of the heart called echocardiograms. Echocardiogram is where we place a microphone apparatus on the chest wall and the pictures that we can get of the heart are amazing. We can see all four chambers of the heart, all four heart valves. We can see major heart vessels.
Typically we do echocardiograms in a 2D format, but in the last five, six years, there’s been a push of utilizing 3D echocardiogram, which is where we can see the heart valves and the heart muscle from many different angles. Because of the ability to be so anatomical and so real, we may actually be able to even alleviate the patient of having to have an invasive study that may not have been necessary due to the fact that we’re now able by a non-invasive modality to give the information which may have been needed.
